Steiff DEER is made from linen and is part of the lovely selection of Steiff's 'Best of Selection' which includes a Deer Head and Howling Wolf.He looks alive with sharp shiny eyes , little mouth and nose, long ears and even bigger antlers together with a little bob tail.
In his ear he has a crystal from Swarovski which makes him even more collectible.
Steiff became fascinated by the natural fibre that is linen.
It has been around for more than 5,000 years and is hard wearing and barely requires any water.
Steiff Schulte in Duisburg has developed a method for turning hard linen yarn into soft linen plush.
The result is a wonderful vegan material for Steiff pieces.
