This is a very special collectors bear which was found in the Steiff Archives. Steiff re-created the lovely faded violet mohair in a shade that exactly matched the original bear made in 1925. Then the Steiff fabric mill had to delicately bleach the tips of the mohair to achieve a unique frosted effect - simulating years of exposure to the sunlight - this was no easy task. This bear has a hand-stitched nose and mouth made of apricot floss. To gain the subtle ageing of this bear, airbrushing has been added around his paw pads. Stuffed with kapok and has hand-blown glass pupil eyes. First made in the 1920's brightly coloured bears were fashionable and went with this fascinating decade. Limited edition of 1,925 pieces worldwide.
