Steiff Replica 1908 Bear is made of the finest mohair in a light cinnamon colour and is fully jointed. The head and arms are loosely attached to the body and he is stuffed with wood shavings just as the original bear of 1908 was. Ten years ago a very special bear was offered for sale at London's most prestigious auction house. Since it was expected to be one of the most desirable items in the sale, the bear was featured on the cover of the widely distributed auction catalogue. A Steiff designer was captivated by the image of the bear and just knew he would make a wonderful replica. As the years passed the designer often recalled the beauty of the special bear. And now the time has come to finally present this unique bear to our collectors. It was originally designed in 1908 and is now available as an exact replica of the original. Steiff have produced a special mohair material just for this bear and it comes in a salmon coloured mohair with gently faded tips and a cinnamon coloured cotton backing lends this unique bear a wonderful sense of colour. He has black wooden eyes, nose and mouth which have been hand embroidered with black thread and felt paw pads. His nose and muzzle have been gently shaved to give his face a wonderful expression. Finally this bear has an 'underscored button' in the ear together with the famous Steiff growler. Only 1,000 pieces have been produced by Steiff worldwide - so making this a very collectible bear.
