Steiff 1912 Teddy Bear

Steiff 1912 teddy bear is made from dense deep black linen plush.
He is 5 way jointed (which means you can move his head, arms and legs).
Paw pads are made from violan and he is filled with corn fiber.
His head has amazing eyes which are shiny black and are underlaid with red felt and his nose and mouth have been hand embroidered using shiny black thread.

Steiff have called him 1912 - as Steiff in the past designed and produced a similar but larger bear called Othello Titanic Replica 1912.
Here we have a black bear called 1912 and here we remember April 14th 1912 the passenger line Titanic was speeding towards New York on her maiden transatlantic voyage when she struck an iceberg off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland, Canada, and sank with the loss of 1,513 liives.
The whole of England was plunged into mourning and Steiff responded by producing a black bear to commemorate the event.

Steiff 1912 is part of the 'Teddies for Tomorrow' selection and is wearing a chest tag made of brass.
