Steiff celebrates the 110th anniversary of the teddy bear with this half-size version of the original PB55. They have challenged the Steiff designers to re-imagine this classic. They explored the essence of the design and their results are truly extraordinary. This bear is made is made from dark brown, slightly curly mohair and whereas the original PB55 had a sealing wax nose, the Anniversary edition's nose is hand-stitched. To simulate the glossy effect of sealing wax, Steiff's artisans carefully applied candle wax to the nose and hand polished it. The stitching on the mouth is still made from the same strong, waxed Saddler thread as used 100 years ago. The bear is fully jointed and the head and limbs are loosely attached to the body. Limited edition of just 1,902 pieces worldwide. Surface washable.
